Commonly Asked Questions

Your Questions, Answered

Do you come to my house?

Whole Life Veterinary Care is a mobile service that brings the veterinarian to you. There is no car ride to the vet or waiting in the lobby - your exam starts as soon as the doctor arrives. We find this to be less stressful for pets and the entire family. Routine wellness care, illness treatment and monitoring, as well as hospice and euthanasia, is all provided in your home. For pets who like to hide, we recommend closing off bedroom doors ahead of the visit and keeping your pet in the living room or an area where they cannot hide. We use low-stress handling techniques for the comfort of your pet.
For anesthetic procedures such as surgeries or dental cleanings, referral to a local hospital will be discussed.

What is acupuncture and what is it used for?

Acupuncture is an ancient therapy used not only for acute or chronic pain but also for many other health conditions including respiratory problems, anxiety, allergies, skin disease, etc.  We have managed cases such as:

  • Intervertebral Disc Disease

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Cruciate Tear

  • Muscle Strain

  • Vestibular Disease

  • Feline Asthma

  • Renal Disease

Acupuncture improves blood flow and decreases inflammation while dampening nerve impulses that transmit pain to the brain. Contact us today to see if acupuncture is right for your pet.

How does acupuncture work?

Acupuncture needles when placed at certain points on your pet, interact with the nervous system. The nervous system regulates pain, anxiety, blood flow, and immune function. The needle itself causes a tiny amount of trauma which the body responds to with a healing response. The response is greater than the trauma.

Does acupuncture hurt?

The needles used are coated to reduce friction so they glide in without pain. Sometimes a sensitive area is triggered with a needle which can cause a sharp sensation. This usually means it is a very effective location that needs more work to the surrounding tissue.
